Job Description

About the role;  

As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee the full scope of maintenance operations across the resort and staff village, ensuring the upkeep of all buildings, plant equipment and grounds.  Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a team and collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure a safe, secure and welcoming environment that enhances the comfort and well-being of both our guests and team members.

  • Develop and implement technical strategies that enhance operational performance, energy, efficiency and long term sustainability.  
  • Oversee all preventative and reactive maintenance across the resort and staff village ensuring optimal functionality, safety and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage external contractors and service providers.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency maintenance issues.
  • Lead, mentor and inspire the maintenance team, fostering collaborative and high performing work culture. 

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:   

  • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or a senior maintenance role within the hospitality industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanicla or Electrical) or trade qualifications in electrical field.
  • Strong expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a hands-on approach.
  • In depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and time and attendance management system.
  • Ability to work under pressure, find solutions efficiently and prioritise tasks effectively.  
  • Sound decision making skills based on accurate and timely analyses. 
  • Positive, hands-on attitude witha solutions-focused mindset
